I cheated on Skyrim with Skyloft

The Skyward Sword was released yesterday and as hard as it was, I pulled myself away from Skyrim and my 360 to spend some time with Link and my Wii. I purchased the bundle that came with the game, a 25th anniversary soundtrack and a gold Wiimote.

My Wii hadn't been turned on in about a year. I had to go through and change all of the wireless connection information which was surprisingly difficult. I attempted to do it the evening before but the Wii just refused not play nice. It was probably punishing me for neglecting it for so long. I'm sorry Wii. But you can blame Nintendo for that. And probably Microsoft for making me happier.

Anyway, I popped in the Skyward Sword disc and was prompted to do a system update. My Wii had been previously altered so that I could play roms on it. Nintendo did not approve. After the update I got ready for some sword swinging fun.

But wait! Before I could play, I had to sit through a very, very annoying tutorial on the Wii Motion +. This is where I will mention that I had not planned on using the gold wiimote. I was planning on leaving it wrapped and packed but nooooo. Apparently the wiimotes I already had (the ones that came with the system when it was first released) were not sufficient. So I was forced to play with the gold.

Finally after changing controllers and being told how to attach the nunchuck and how to secure straps, my game starts. The intro was fantastic. The images looked very much like those inkblot test. It can be seen here:

Beautiful.

Without giving too much away, the game opens with Zelda and her Loft bird. She sends it to wake up Link who is participating in a knight academy ceremony. Between Link waking up and the ceremony, Links bird goes missing and you have find it.I didn't get very far in the game but I did get passed the ceremony which required me taking control of Links Loft bird for a bit of a race. Not having handled a wiimote in sometime, this took a bit of getting used to. After the ceremony is really when the adventure begins. The event that will lead Link to begin fulfilling his destiny takes place. A new character is introduced. The sword is revealed and Link is provided with his uniform! And thus begins the adventure!

This also happens to be where I had to stop playing due to having somethings to take care of. Now I just have to wait until 5 p.m. so that I can go home and continue my love affair.

P.S. I still hate the name Wii
